Awwww...

We had a super lovely time at Stacey's turkey party this weekend. Audrey was certainly the life of the party. Making herself perfectly at home and entertaining with song and dance and her random silliness. And she absolutely fell in LOVE with their dog, Whiskey. In love!

Funny, that she comes from 2 very very shy parents....

Stacey's recollection of the night (and my amazing daughter) made my heart go pitter patter:

"Between the food, the friends, the drinks and the kids...I have to say that the highlight of my night was this...Audrey! She is my friend Jaymi and Tom's daughter and she seriously is the cutest kid on the planet. Between the red curly hair and the perfectly adorable friendly personality it is hard not to watch and fall in love with her. I think she left many at the party wishing for a child just like her...I think even some of the men had aches in their uterus. To top it off, Whisky was IN LOVE WITH HER. He could be found following her around and licking her face as much as possible. I think I want 5 children now."

I love my Audrey sooooooo much. And I'm very very lucky to be her mother. <3

What our evenings have been like...

Okay, bear with me. These silly photos are really really bad, but I just had to envision it.

So lately EVERY evening Audrey wants to wear her princess dress and makes the family partake in a little fairytale...

Audrey, of course, is the beautiful princess (who is sometimes a princess ballerina). She needs protection from...
The handsome prince (me!). I dramatically scoop her up to save her from....

The mean dragon. Who wants to get to her tower and is also in cahoots with...

Paco, the evil witch.
She has such a fantastic imagination!

It all started with a light we saw at a pizza place...

My Tom is one crafty guy! We were scoping out this really cool light/photo thing at a pizza place downtown one day when Tom said "Hey, I could do that." So he did (well, he used it as inspiration for his piece). Lucky for us, he took photos along the way...

This was the original picture. A metal frame with a strange man painted on it.

He removed the man replacing it with a piece of wood. Then painted it and the frame a creamy green color (this was the base).

This was the original back.

He wired and installed the lighting on back of the piece of wood. All by himself! First time doing this sort of thing - ever! I was sooooo proud.

And this is the final result! We bought this cute vinyl sticker from Etsy and placed it on a piece of thick plexiglass extended about 4 inches from the frame.

There's even a dimmer on the lights! Next time he wants to paint a midcentury modern-type design on the plexiglass himself. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

So pretty!!!

More Christmas...

So, Tom informed me that I failed to post the ouside of our pretty decorated house...

Last night by the fire...

I love my house soooooooo much!

Yes. We got a leg lamp! It's amazing...

Getting There...

We did it!
We just couldn't wait. We put the tree up yesterday! Audrey handed me every single ornament and even told me where to put some of them. I'm so so happy that the holidays have officially(sorta) begun.

Whipped up these little trees tonight using the Little Birds Tutorial that has been going around lately.

This wreath was also made tonight, it was soooo easy! Was putting yarn colors together for my wreath in my head pretty much all day today and when I saw this yarn, I knew it was it!
So excited!!!!!!!!!!

Too Early?

I'm so ready to put the pretty Christmas tree up! I really really want to put it up this weekend....even though it's a bit early (we usually put it up after Thanksgiving). But, I'm ready! So ready to start decorating the house and having a home for my handmade christmas gifts...

Catching Up

Whew! So, I've been making lots of stuff and taking a lot of photos lately. BUT, have not had a chance to get on my home computer to download those pictures. I'm on the computer all day at work (without pictures!) and by the time I get home all I want to do is make stuff. I avoid the computer and sew or knit or whatever. Not thinking about that computer or the pictures I have to download at all.

Last night after I finished the little project I'm going to mention below, I did it. I sat down with my laptop and FINALLY downloaded and edited all the pictures that have been sitting in the camera. I copied them to a thumb drive and now I can post from anywhere!

Soooo, last night I worked on what will be my ornaments for Kimi's Ornament Swap. This is my first swap of any type ever so I thought long and hard about what I wanted to make.

I decided to take my newfound love for knitting and yarn and turn it into an ornament (with the help of this little tutorial!). My Tom even had quite a hand in the success of these little balls. He cut the wooden sticks, sharpened themto look like knittng needles, and spraypainted them. He even took the extra step in adding that thick area of paint on the ends of the needles to look more realistic. What can I say? I married a super handsome crafty perfectionist of a guy!

Here's what I have mostly been working on this week. I get so many compliments when I wear my knit bows around that I decided (with a little nudge from Amy and Lauren) to make some to sell at the craft faire this weekend. I also needed to make some for the supercool ladies at my hairdresser. They went crazy for my bow the last time I got my hair cut and requested some. Which could be a really cool thing if the cute girls at the hairdresser start wearing my bows!!!They couldn't believe that I had learned to knit just so I could make bows. I have to admit, it was one of the main reasons I wanted to learn. And the other stuff is just bonus!
So, I need to get back into posting stuff....especially since I finally have access the many pictures I've been taking lately.
xo,
Jaymi
